Overview[edit | edit source]

The Guardians are a group of people given supernatural powers and tasked by the Greatmother to carry out her will and keep peace and justice in Crimsona.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

Every Guardian is given great strength, speed, and reaction times so that they would have the power to stop evildoers. They are also given the ability to fly at incredible speeds. Each guardian is given great wings made of long, elegant, white feathers that glow and glimmer, though the Guardian can fly much faster than those wings would allow, making them more a symbolic addition than anything else. Guardians from races that already had wings just have these much nicer feathers replace their previous wing surface material. Guardians have a special sense to detect disturbances in the Soul Weave more acutely and at greater distances than normal, allowing them to know exactly where to go to find people in trouble. Lastly, Guardians are gifted with long lifespans, each able to live for over four centuries. They show no signs of aging after they become a Guardian up until their final month, when they will travel to the Tomb of the Guardians to prepare for death.

History[edit | edit source]

The first Guardian to be chosen was Takara, who answered the Greatmother's call because she wished for the power to stop the war that her clan had started. Takara's ascension and subsequent appearance on the battlefield of Old Valley War was the marker for the end of the First Age and the beginning of the Age of the Guardians. Over the centuries that followed, more and more heroes would take the pledge and become Guardians. On an average year in the Age of the Guardians, between 40 to 70 Guardians would be active and patrolling the world. They were felt like an ever-present policing force, giving most people of Crimsona a deep fear of committing any kind of bad act. Feelings were mixed concerning this policing, differing between clans and over time, trending eventually toward contempt. Then, on year [Needs Date, 1600-ish]G, the situation changed for the Guardians. The more warlike clans had been defying the Guardians more and more, and with the invention of metal arms and armor, were closing the gap of power. On that fateful date, for the first time in history, the Guardian [Needs Name] was defeated in combat by the warriors of the [Needs Name] clan. This event spread a message far and wide that the strong grip of the Guardians was being shaken, and those clans that despised the Guardians' "tyranny" could stand up to them now. Without the threat of the Guardians' wrath to stop wars, that was the end of the Age of the Guardians, and the beginning of the Age of War. The Guardians remained active through the beginning of the Age of War, but armed and trained warriors were becoming too numerous and harder for them to stop. Their numbers slowly dwindled as more and more were slain, until at about 120W after which no more Guardian sightings were recorded for ages to come. At the tail end of the Second Demon War, when Crimsona was on the brink of defeat at the hands of the Demon King, the Guardians finally returned. The Greatmother resurrected every one of the ancient Guardians in the Tomb of the Guardians, shared even greater power with them, clad them all in wonderful armor and weapons, and then together they flew to the battlefield to end the war. After that battle, the Guardians weren't made back into a policing force, not in the same way that they were before. They were all taken away from the surface of Crimsona and brought to guard the Greatmother's palace in the sky, [Needs Name].

[Needs Name, mortal copycats of the Guardians][edit | edit source]

A group calling themselves [Needs Name] was founded on year [Needs Date]C and exists through the current year. They try to emulate the Guardians of old by observing the strictest standards of heroism, virtue, wisdom, and justice, and fighting to protect all within their reach from monsters, demons, and evildoers.
